The Societys goals are to promote sport culture, especially through sport sciences. The Society is a critical observer of sport, and is committed to knowledge only.
• Founded in 1933.
• Located on the Olympic Stadium premises inHelsinki.
• Works in cooperation with the Finnish Ministry of Education, scientific societies, sport organisations and with other organisations in the sport and health sectors.
The Finnish Society of Sport Sciences disseminates information pertaining to sport. It transmits information about sport research and the background factors of sport to all interested parties.
The Society issues one magazine in English: Motion - Sport inFinland, writing about Finnish sport and the Finnish culture, is meant for the international audience. This English-language magazine comes out twice a year.
The Finnish Society of Sport Sciences believes in research. The Society seeks out topical issues and new perspectives, and initiates research. The Society places high value on multdisciplinary research.
The Finnish Society of Sport Sciences takes care of international sport contacts. The Society makes Finnish sport knowledge known abroad, and relays international sport research to Finns. The international congresses and seminars arranged by the Society gather together sport researchers from different countries.
The Finnish Society of Sport Sciences trains and spurs discussion. The Society holds seminars and discussion events about issues topical to sport.
The Finnish Society of Sport Sciences collates and publishes information about sport research and researchers. The Society carries out surveys and compiles summaries commissioned by customers.
